The devil behind the mirror, part - 1

Yuki used to be a bright boy in high school, but now he is nothing but a past left behind. Somehow, the stress of life has made him lonelier and more of an escapist. When he was in high school, he wanted to be a manga artist, but somehow he ended up in corporate life. The hard and fast rules have made him so exhausted that he locks himself in his house and plays nothing but video games.
One day, he was playing games until morning. When he saw the sunshine, he thought there must be something more enjoyable than playing games. So, he went outside and started to enjoy the fresh air. He was enjoying the moment, but the enjoyment didn’t last long.
Yuki used to make fun of a person called Kaito. He was a below-average person and didn’t have any noticeable talent. But he was very humble and used to say, ‘I only need to be true to myself, and you will see I will be the bird who sings and flies freely.’ Now, this Kaito guy is a famous member of a jazz band, playing the role of a drummer. At least, that’s what it seems from the big poster.
After seeing the poster, Yuki felt a complex mixture of jealousy and self-doubt. He never thought that an average person like Kaito could achieve such huge success. He had always believed that he was the brightest person in his high school and college, and that it was a given he would be the most successful person in the near future.
Now, he feels so stupid that he starts to think about the common Japanese notion of ending his life. He locks himself in his apartment again, stands in front of the mirror, and tells himself how pathetic he is. Reality works in its own way; it doesn’t follow any definition. It works or flows according to its own deflation.
He muttered to himself, ‘I wish a better version of me would take over and rule this body.‘ But one thing he didn’t notice was that Yuki’s reflection wasn’t in sync with him. It was as if the reflection was watching him with a killer instinct. However, one thing was common between Yuki and his reflection—the hatred for Yuki’s current self.
